After a long hiatus, the Cowbell Classic Junior Open Bonspiel is back.
This Junior Bonspiel is an open spiel that is developmental and fun in spirit designed to bridge the gap between the East Coast, Ontario, and our friends in Minnesota/North Dakota/Wisconsin.
The Cowbell Classic is also designed to give High School, Junior High, and College curlers that may not be on a competitive curling team, a venue to curl a bunch of games, network, and have a blast.
The winners of the U15 Open Division will earn an invitation to represent the United States (or if a Canadian team wins) in the Players Championship held April 18-20th, 2025 at the Dundas Golf and Country Club in Dundas, Ontario.
Winners of the U21 Division just get bragging rights and earn the right to ring the Coveted Giant Golden Cowbell.
This event will try and pack as many games as possible to give teams as much bonspiel experience that time will allow. Games may be modified to 6 ends to allow for more games to be played. Championship games will be 8 ends.
Teams can be made of any gender of players and are encouraged to "play up."
Bagpipes, pins, prizes, cowbells, and tons of curling will be available.
Water, soda, and snacks will be included.
On ice coaching is allowed.
We can and will make adjustments to have as many people or teams be able to participate.
Please be flexible to allow for as many curlers as possible.
At this event, cowbells are not only given out, they are expected to be used... a lot.
As of this writing, we have had teams from California, Michigan, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Ohio, North Dakota, Connecticut, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Kentucky, and Ontario sign up and/or play at this event.
Should be lots of fun and tons of memories will be created.
Sign up as an individual or as a team.
Please make sure when signing up for the U15 division, that the players can successfully deliver a rock "through the house." Even though this is a developmental bonspiel, all participants should be able to reasonably draw to the house. If a player throws a lot of hogged rocks and and struggles to get rocks in play, they will most likely not have a successfull and fun filled weekend that builds confidence.
