By now, you've probably seen the stacks of beer in the ice room and wondered what it was all about. Well, as part of our 50th Anniversary Party this weekend, we will have a 50 Beers for 50 Years program. Here's how it works.
You already know that we will be playing a 50 End curling game. The Ends in that game will not be numbered 1 through 50 like a normal curling gamer. Instead they are numbered for the 50 years the club has been in operation. The first end is 1968 (or 68 for short) then next end is 69 then 70...etc. all the way to 2017 (or 17).
This is where the beer in the ice room comes in. There are 50 different craft beers, one for each End being played. At the start of each End, that year's beer will become available to purchase at The 9th End. Keep in mind that supplies are limited. We have no more than 24 beers available of each type. Sometimes less.
Now, here's the fun part. We call it the "Toast the Year" program. At the start of each End, one of that End's beer will be opened and used to fill 10 shot glasses. Up to 10 people can purchase a ticket to go out in the ice room where we will "Toast the Year". The new beer will be introduced, we will do a toast to that year and you will drink your sample. By buying tickets to this program, it will give you a fun way to sample one, many, or all of the beers without having to drink entire beers.
Tickets to the "Toast the Year" program will be sold at the event. You have three options.
- Buy 1 Year for 50 cents
- Buy 10 Years for $4.50 (years need not be contiguous)
- Buy all 50 Years for $20 (must be purchased in advance)
Please keep in mind that you need to be present when it is time for the toast. We cannot allow the "Toast the Year" program to delay the curling game.
